It began as sun set over the young Big hART crew. Usually it was the bright Egg Park, tonight devoid of excited children’s screams. A projector screen glowed alone in the park’s grassy corner. Locals nearby stared at an exhibit of photos and captions taken by homeless youth, enthralled in their lonely, cold tales.
Then Ben painted himself pink, the night’s obligatory serious moment halted and we kept partying.
Gold Participant: Robert (Young Person - Griffith)
Big hART Gold is a project that focuses on the effects of the drought on rural and farming communities of Australia.
We go around to farms and interview the farmers about what life is like on the land when there is no water.
Our project stretches across the Murray-Darling basin.
We do weekly workshops in our office in Griffith with different artists from across Australia. This is the blog of the participants at our Griffith HQ.
Read all about our field trips, see the latest photos and videos from our workshops, from the perspective of the young people involved.
